Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist, and even a commentator with NBC News in Washington D.C. and is a television anchor. Mitchell graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington the following year, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News a year later. From 1981 onwards she started reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was promoted to chief congressional reporter. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was on the panel of the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was on the panel at the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for outstanding achievement in the field of journalism. In 2004 it was the year that Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988 throughout both the administrations of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of notable stories, including the Iran-contra affair and budget tax reform. She was with Ronald Reagan on numerous trips to world summits and reported extensively.
